If you are concerned that your child may be having difficulty developing speech and/or language (sometimes referred to as a "late talker"), it is a good idea to seek an evaluation from a speech-language pathologist. If identified early, many delays can be addressed through therapy and/or through helping parents learn effective ways to stimulate speech and language development. The cause of a speech and language delay is not always clear. By working with the child and family and observing how the child responds to various strategies, I can learn more over time and develop a better understanding of factors that may be contributing to his/her difficulties.
